There were sirens of ambulance in front of the tall building. Daniel's mother was crying loudly in despair. Her dreadful wails pierced through air and reached Zoon's heart to increase its pain.

Zoon took deep breath as she braced herself to get out of the car.

She ran out of the car just to find Daniel's lifeless body was shrouded in the cotton sheet and carried on the stretcher.

She didn't know what to do. Her heart was drowning in agony.   She tried to look at the sky to find some relief. But the bright sunlight pierced through her eyes.

Nothing would be same after this.

Daniel's mother whimpered as his dead body was dumped into the ambulance.

Zoon walked towards his mother and held her tightly in her frail arms.

AFTER A MONTH:

It has been one month since Daniel passed away, but Zoon couldn't digest the fact that he was gone. She wanted to erase all of his memories in her heart. But how could she do that? He was huge part of her life.

She was unable to live her life normally. Her head pounded mercilessly. Maybe her soul was punishing her. But why now? Why after everything was over?

She wanted to go back in time when was just a child, innocent, kind and full of empathy. She was so happy until Daniel came. He took everything away from her and she hated him for that.

Daniel was only five years old when he came to live in Zoon's mansion along with his mother, Chala. His mother was appointed to work in Zoon's house after her mother died.

Like all other servants of the mansion, Daniel and his mother were illegal immigrants who came to live in Zoon's country.

All of these illegal immigrants left their hometown because they were persecuted on their own land. Although many international agencies condemned the persecution, it was hopeless.

Hence, they were forced to leave their own country.

As Zoon's country was right next to their country, large number of these people migrated here and worked as; servants, labourers,  mechanics etc.

Like other rich people Zoon's father  appointed them to work in his mention.

Zoon's father was a plitician. He wanted to use illegal immigrants for his own gain. He was always a cruel man with cold heart, but he loved his daughter and wife.

His wife didn't let him go astray as long as she was alive but after her death he was broken like a wounded monster. Ready to spread destruction all around him.

He appointed all immigrants to use them as a vote bank because government had decided to treat them as normal citizens with equal rights and provisions. Albeit reality was cruel.

Illegal migrants weren't even treated as humans. People looked down at them. They were treated worse than animals.

Gabe, Zoon's father, knew that they were desperate. He wanted to use their desperation for his own gain.
He saw them as lowly cattles who deserved no mercy. But then Daniel came into picture and Gabe started to treat him differently.

On the other hand, Zoon was ignored by everyone around her after her mother's death.
Even her father didn't care about her anymore. While as everyone loved Daniel because he was charismatic and innocent, unlike Zoon.

She tried to ignore the feeling of jealousy which was brewing inside her heart since Daniel was five years younger than her but as they grew up things started to become worse.

Daniel was a brilliant student. 

He got double promotion and opted to do his Ph.D. in 'Political science' in one of the most prestigious universities of the country while Zoon struggled to apply for Master's even in small universities. Her father offered to help her but she refused to accept anyone's help because of her ego.

Daniel was oblivious of Zoon's hatred towards her. He followed her around like a lost puppy.

Initially, he was inspired by her. He saw her as an idol because of her hard working and determined nature.

He was impressed because Zoon never used her father's power to attain success.

Daniel always thought that she was different than all other people around her.  She just wanted her father's love.

Her simplicity affected his heart. Slowly he craved for her attention and then that desire turned into one-sided love.

For him it was the most beautiful feeling that he had ever felt. He wanted to love her and make her happy even if she didn't care.

However, Daniel's memories and love started to haunt Zoon after his death. She was unable to sleep even going to psychiatrist didn't help her at all.

She was lying on the bed trying to get some sleep when she heard some noise.

Someone knocked at her bedroom door which was impossible because she had locked the main entrance before going to sleep.

She got up slowly and held steel thermos in her hand to defend herself.

She carefully opened the door with one hand while holding thermos in another hand, but no one was there.

She might have hallucinated she thought while closing the door, but it was held back.

Suddenly, her phone rang. She picked up the call.

" Zooni, open the door. I want to talk to you.", someone said.

It was Daniel. How is this possible? He is dead.

" Listen to me, I am not scared of you. I know you are trying to pull a prank on me, but I am not affected. I don't know who you are.... I am warning you...It is not funny and if you ---", she tried to threaten whoever was on the call, but he started to laugh.

" Zooni, are you trying to scare me? How can I be afraid of you? I just want to talk to you.", Daniel.

" Stop spouting nonsense. Daniel is dead. You are just impersonating him. ", she said.

" You are looking good in purple frock. You know that purple is my favorite color, right?", Daniel.

" You must have installed cameras in my room. ", she said.

" You are so stubborn like always. Look behind you.", Daniel.

She turned her head but found nothing....

' It is all in your head...', she mumbled to herself.

IN THE PRISON:

Meanwhile, Gabe was staring at the prison walls. He had been arrested for conspiring against government and for threatening the sovereignty of his nation.

He was kept in central jail. Although his control over nation's politics didn't diminish at all. He even had some puppets who worked for him in the prison.

One of those puppets told him that his daughter was in wreck. She was holed up in her apartment.

Gabe got angry because he knew if there was someone who could help him and his party at this moment it was his daughter, but that useless girl was moping in her apartment.
